Making People Matter

Emma’s passion for her career at UMass Memorial stems from the organization’s mission, vision and values as well as its team environment and focus on a work-life balance for all employees.

Emma began her career at UMass Memorial as an intern in tuition reimbursement and quickly felt confident that this was the place she would call home for her career. Emma firmly believes in the mission of UMass Memorial, which values the recognition of its employees. “Everyone takes pride in being recognized for their hard work and it is important – both individually and as an organization – to show that the work we are doing is meaningful.”

In her current position, Emma plans and executes two major recognition programs at UMass Memorial: Champions of Excellence and UMatter. The Champions of Excellence Program is an annual recognition event, which includes awards, pictures and a reception for 850 employees. The UMatter program provides an opportunity to give on-the-spot recognition to employees for high performance.

As a new mother, the work-life balance philosophy at UMass Memorial is also essential to Emma’s satisfaction with her career. “Everyone in my department has been very accommodating to my new schedule. I’m really proud to be a part of a group that puts work-life balance as a top priority.”
